Desperate Plea for Ongoing Mental Health Support
Donativo protegido
Our 15-year-old child is brilliant, funny, vivacious, and kind.....and suffers from severe depression, anxiety, and addiction. We asked for (and received) help a few months ago to complete a residential treatment program. So much progress was made, and we are forever grateful for the support. Seeing our child thrive after so much struggle and suffering has been a miracle. We continued outpatient treatment at home, and our child is fully engaged and motivated to maintain and continue the progress. We have learned that support for addiction in teens is not typically a "one-and-done" situation. After a frightening relapse, we are once again seeking help. The therapists are recommending a program designed to provide support to prevent relapse in teens after coming home from residential treatment. Quality mental health care is expensive, and medical insurance often does not cover what is needed, leaving families like ours unable to meet our children's needs. Initially, we didn't think it was appropriate to ask for help again; it is a humbling and vulnerable to do, but we would do anything to help our child....and to keep getting glimpses of that beautiful smile.
