My name is Brian Wade.I have been a trucker for 29 years and an owner operator for just over a year and a half now.
I have always worked hard and taken pride in earning an honest living behind the wheel. But the last few months have been the worst financial and emotional stressful situation of my entire career.
For 4 months, I was driving for a presumed trucking company out of Edmonton Alberta, but now I have come to find out they have numerous owners in Ontario Canada. This company is running illegally and has been for about 6 yrs unbeknownst to me.During my 90 day trial period,I was threatened about 3 times, with losing my job if I did not comply with hauling loads illegally in the United States. This is called interstating and as a Canadian Trucker it is illegal for me to do this, this was never part of the agreement plus they had me driving well over my 11 hours per day, sometimes even doubling that amount to meet their unrealistic delivery expectations.
So after being forced to drive illegally, overcharged and left unpaid by a dishonest company, I now find myself $3000 dollars behind on my truck payment.Without catching up, I can't get my Power of Attorney to lease onto a new honest trucking company November first, with my 11 year old rescue American Bully Bandit, whose dry food is running out too.
While $3000 covers the immediate truck payment, another additional $3000 would bring my bills up to date and help me get fully back on my feet.I need help this week to help make it happen!
This all came about when my 2021 Freightliner Cascadia eexperienced def related issues which are all too common on these type of trucks. I am also sure the trucks age, high mileage and the fact it was idled constantly from another trucking company I bought through a now bankrupt truck dealership all contributed to it.
Adrian now has 721,000 miles on her of which I probably put on about 100,000 miles in the year and a half I owned her. During my 4 months with this prior less than scrupulous trucking company I added another 50,000 miles under very stressful and dangerous conditions. The def issues were eventually solved with nox sensor replacements and updated software from a freightliner.Really my only other major repair was an alternator, 4 new drive tires and an oil change and service.
On top of that I was paying $4500 for my truck insurance plus I was also paying to rent a poorly maintenance old reefer trailer of this trucking company.
This POS reefer trailer broke down within the first month after I was hauling it thus costing me money plus down time in them trying to get me a better revenue load. I have also recently discovered how the depot manager was skimming thousands of dollars off the presumed revenue of the loads and then charging me an additional 8 per cent of the load confirmation of what he sent me.Thats called double dipping and it is illegal.I estimate he probably stole about 10K from me. So if you add another 5K average fuel bill a month to that, and with all the nickel and dimeing he was doing with my settlement pay,I could never get remotely ahead with this guy. Thus I finally had to tell a serious lie to get away from this company.I was fired in Sherbrooke Quebec Canada by text after I delivered a load, and thus I was then blackmailed I would not get my final pay unless I did his bidding.I dropped off the reefer trailer at a nearby meat plant and he told me despite, everything I was to bobtail to Mississauga Ontario to pick up a load from there and head to Winnipeg MB,where he would turn my fuel card back on as he cut it off, but he never did,Therefore I paid the last 600 dollars I had in my bank account which was for rent last friday to get myself to Winnipeg for the new job. But as soon as I got to Winnipeg, this very dishonest person decided he would hold my pay further and requested all equipment be returned back to him asap.I spent another 80 dollars off my maxed out credit card to ship it off by UPS to a residential address in Stittsville Ontario Canada which made no sence as I had been hired in Alberta Canada in the first place.
Now this slimey company I used to work for is holding my pay and they are stating, I might get it back in 90 days according to the contract I signed. I do have full intentions of taking them to small claims court after I start my new trucking job but this will not happen unless I actually get the job. Like I mentioned previously, I travel with my 11 year old rescue dog Bandit who has been my constant companion on the road which I would never be without.
I am just trying to start fresh with a legitimate honest trucking company here out of Winnipeg MB but like I said before I have fallen behind in just one truck payment. However not paying that, will not get me the Power of Attorney I desperately have to have to lease onto the new company I want to go work for.
The good news is they are ready to take me on immediately if I start working by November first. And they will also cover my November 4th truck payment coming due, wjhich then brings my truck payments all up to date but I do have to repay them back for that over the next 4 to 5 months as well. Plus I do not have to pay for a reefer trailer rental off them which that alone saves me about $2200 a month from the previous company. This would finally give me a fresh new start and finally earn a decent living where at the very least I can stay current on all my bills again.
So as it sits my final pay is in limbo, and they say can be legally held up to 90 days, whereas all my bills have either become due or are way overdrawn. I have worked too hard and too long to give up now! I just need a hand up to get through this one critical week. Whatever you can donate will go towards the overdo truck payment first and then any excess towards my overdo rent.
I am a proud man, but I truly need any help you can give me at this point. Thankyou for considering my plight.
