Desperate for Help to Save Our Dog
Donation protected

Our 3 year old German Shepherd unexpectedly fell sick on Sunday March 17th. After 3 days of testing, we found out our boy developed an autoimmune condition called immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). The condition results in low blood cell counts as a result of his immune system attacking and destroying his blood cells. He underwent testing and multiple transfusions, and 24/7 monitoeing until we were fortunate enough to bring him home Thursday, the 21st. Unfortunately, we ended up right back at the ER vet with a need for 2 more transfusions and continued life-saving treatment and monitoring. He is currently still being monitored and unfortunately has run into some additional hiccups while there.
At the same time, I was 39 weeks pregnant and ended up going into labor the night we brought him home, delivering our newest family member March 23rd. While the birth of a child should be one of the happiest times of your life, we can't help but have this cloud of "what ifs" and "are we doing all that we can do". Unfortunately, we've come to a point where we can no longer afford continued monitoring and treatment. He hasn't given up, so we aren't ready to give up either. But we are desperately seeking help to at least give him the time needed for his medications to kick in and show signs of improvement. All funds will help cover the current ER bill to help give him a fighting chance. The current bill is 12k and he will likely need another transfusion and alternative testing to determine why his urine output is low. Please consider helping us to be able to give him more time to continue fighting. Anything helps!
