Cleusa DeSouza better known as "Dona Cleusa" passed away on October 11th 2015. She was 73 years young. She was born on December 16th 1942 in Araçatuba, São Paulo.
"Dona" is a way to say "Housewife." Cleusa was a dedicated housewife. She cared tentatively for her home and her husband, whom she met at a young age. Together they gave birth to 8 children, of which only two survived. The others fell victim to illness and poverty.
Cleusa enjoyed caring for her appearance, doing her nails, her hair, makeup, dressing in nice clothes, and generally the things most young women enjoyed.
She raised her two surviving sons who went on to start their own families in the USA and gave her 5 grandchildren. Dona Cleusa was a proud grandmother.
As a woman of faith, Cleusa enjoyed praying and participating in church activities. She is remembered for praying deep into the night. This was a symbol of her compassion towards others, as most of the people she knew were included in those prayers.
Cleusa spent most of her life caring and providing for others. She was a true matriarch, a provider, a fighter of courage, and pure faith.
Dona Cleusa is survived by her two sons and their families. Her sons and grandchildren witnessed her strength and courage up until her last breath. Dona Cleusa fought a losing battle with cancer and heartbreak over the passing of her husband in June 2014.
She will be remembered for the hymns she often sang, the great food she cooked for her husband and family, and the careful love and care she provided for her sons and sons families.
One of the hymns she sang included the 91st Psalm: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
We are seeking funding to help lay our grandmother to rest alongside her loving husband in Brazil.
God Bless.
