Desmond is a real-life Superman who impacts everything and everyone around him in a positive manner by being his natural self, and to continue being a light in this world he has to have his pacemaker replaced on March 29, 2023. He is just twenty-six years old and was born with a rare congenital condition called Tetralogy of Fallot made up of a combination of four heart defects that affect the structure of the heart causing oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and to the rest of the body. To fix this condition open heart surgery was done at six months old and in 2010 a pacemaker was installed while Desmond was a freshman at Tyner High School. That pacemaker was replaced just two years later and due to these surgical procedures, his plans to go play baseball at the University of Alabama at Birmingham after graduating high school were distorted too much to become a reality. Desmond is currently a full-time student at Chattanooga State Community College in his sophomore year pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering while also being a full-time employee at Dick’s Sporting Goods, keeping an adamant workout routine of two or more hours a day, and tutoring at Chattanooga State in his spare time. Desmond has dreams and aspirations to one day work at NASA and launch cool things into space and any donations or thoughtful words or prayers would be greatly appreciated to help him with his process through surgery and rehab along with the costs of his journey.
