My name is Desmond Patterson. I'm 19 years old, and right now, I'm doing everything I can to get into college and change the course of my life.
Growing up hasn't been easy. I've faced challenges that have made me stronger, but they've also made the road to higher education incredibly difficult. I come from a family where, unfortunately, neither of my parents is eligible to co-sign for student loans. That means I'm on my own, financially, emotionally, and mentally, trying to fund college 100% by myself.
This isn't just about getting a degree. For me, college is a second chance, a lifeline. In high school, I struggled a lot, especially with my mental health. There were times I felt lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of my future. But despite those struggles, I've kept going. I'm still here. And I'm ready now to take the next step, not just to prove something to myself, but to finally start building the life I've always dreamed of.
Education has always been important to me. I know I have so much potential to unlock. I want to grow, learn, and one day give back to people who may be facing the same obstacles I am today. But I can't do this alone.
If you're reading this and considering donating, please know how much it would mean to me. Every dollar would go directly toward tuition, books, and basic living expenses while I focus fully on my education. Your support would not only be financial, it would be a sign that someone out there believes in me, in my future, and in my ability to rise above the past.
I promise, if given this chance, I will make every single person who donates proud. I will take this opportunity and run with it. I won't take one moment for granted.
Thank you for reading, and thank you truly for believing in second chances.
