We are the Design, Build, Fly student team at UCI, and we need YOUR help!

We are a team of 12 Aerospace Engineering & Mechanical Engineering students and will be working for the next ten months to design, build and test a new propeller aircraft.

Design, Build, Fly is an international university competition hosted by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). This year we are working on designing a spy plane for Electronic Warfare. We will be competing in 4 flight missions in April of 2023. And until then, we are working on designing our aircraft from the ground up with an analysis of all the mission requirements and sizing every single component of our plane. We will begin fabrication via 3D printing and laser cutting in early November and plan to develop at least three prototypes.

We have to procure materials (balsa wood, carbon tubes, fiberglass, and more).

The more materials we are able to purchase will directly influence how many prototypes we are able to build, test, and crash before the competition.

The competition will be in April of 2023 in Tuscon, Arizona, over a 3-day period. We would like to be able to take the entire team to competition without forcing members to pay out of pocket. And in today's economy, hotel costs, gas costs, and food have become a financial burden on our studious members.
