hi, Desi here! Every time I say, welcome to my house, it reminds me of how everyone has supported me financially, emotionally, and psychologically to make the transition from the nursing home to my own home.
A while back, I did a fundraiser for a power chair. At that time, the nursing home would not allow me to have a motorized chair. Now, I have been fitted for, and the therapist have selected the chair for me. I have given them the money we raised along with insurance. There is one feature that the therapists feel is essential for my independence, but is not covered by insurance it is called I-–lift and it allows the chair to raise me to the height of whatever task I am doing whether it is putting away the dishes or reaching items on a shelf. I feel that this feature will allow me the independence that I haven’t had in a long time. I am also hoping that perhaps it will allow me to do either a volunteer position or something part time. I really miss accountability and my sense of accomplishment and worth.
The feature costs about $5000 but I am striving to reach just half of that I will be applying for grants, decorating reusable, shopping bags and other crafts to raise money and please spread the word, and donate if you can. Thank you everyone for your continued support emotionally and in every way possible.
