Deshawn and Angel welcomed their sweet baby boy, Josiah, on September 18th. Josiah was born with Duodenal Atresia. This is a condition that occurs when a portion of the duodenum doesn’t form. This condition results in a blockage that stops food or fluid from leaving the baby's stomach. Josiah is going into surgery on September 23 to fix this issue. Josiah will have a feeding tube placed until his small intestines heal and will have to receive his food (breastmilk) through it. He will be in the NICU/Children's Hospital for 6-8 weeks until he is stable and taking his food from his mouth. Deshawn is only allotted 2 weeks of paid paternity leave; after that, he will take the remaining time to stay in Tennessee with Angel and Josiah. Deshawn is also traveling to and from their home in Virginia to take care of their animals. We are creating this to help offset the cost of bills and take a little weight off their shoulders as Josiah heals.
