MEDICAL NEEDS for DESERVING D & HIS DYNAMIC MOM
Donation protected
Thank you friends for taking a moment to read about these two beautiful humans. I'll ask you to get creative at the end.
D has a tethered spinal cord. He is having surgery in May. His surgeon is the wonderful Dr. Petra Klinge. He truly is in the most gifted hands, and his surgeon genuinely cares about her patients and their families. She's an Earth Angel. With any surgery there are risks. We know his pain level will be difficult to manage.
I met Roxanne during the Christmas season years ago. It was about the time my son began to doubt Santa. My son had multiple healthcare needs. He had difficulty writing due to fine motor struggles. Roxanne chose our family to gift an iPad. Not knowing how handy it would be, or the memories it would help Ian make before he passed. Thanks to her kindness, I have emails from my son that I will cherish forever. She didn't know that until she read this the first time. I'm forever grateful for her. She is giving and wise, kind, and generous with her time. She is a role model to many. She saved Santa and Christmas for us that year too.
A single mom, advocate, teacher, and part super hero won't often ask for help. First one to give it! No questions asked! But when it comes to your child, no stone unturned. It takes strength to know when to let others in. She works 7 days a week. The medical bills are suffocating. Medical equipment that insurance doesn't cover is needed. Trips to and from Boston for multiple specialists. It's costly. It's getting hard enough that they need our help.
D has multiple diagnoses. I list them with permission. I ask you to keep in mind D is a beautiful young man. He is not his diagnosis.
Autism, Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome, Tethered Spinal cord, and currently exploring causes of other medical issues. D loves anime, reptiles, his family, and video games.
It has been heartbreaking to see D in so much pain. When he smiles the mood in the room changes. He's now dependent on his wheelchair and walker. It is likely he will always need both.
I'm certain that if we can rally we can count on a miracle. I know that this family is overdue for a blessing and SO deserving.
Please donate to ease the burden of medical expenses. Donate to help pay for the necessary care D will need during his many weeks of recovery. Donate so D can have the attachments to his wheelchair insurance doesn't pay for.
Share the picture and story of this dynamic duo. Let's find ways to gather around them, starting here. There will be other requests along the way. You might know of a resource we don't. Please reach out with any questions, ideas etc. This is where I ask for your creativity.
I know this journey in many ways, I know from a mother's view the struggle, the guilt, fear, all the questions. So many questions, and never a good enough answer. Let's help light their way. I look forward to updating you along the way. The road is long, but easier with a village of support.
Many thanks and may you be blessed tenfold.
