Desert Star is Moving!

Desert Star Family Planning was founded on the values of providing just, dignified, and exceptional family planning and gynecology care. We not only express these values in the care we provide our patients, but in the physical space that our patients enter to receive care. We want our patients to feel comfort and safety. When our prior location was sold to new owners 3 years ago, upkeep of the external premises declined and a vagrant population made the property their home. The safety of our patients and staff was compromised and when our lease was up it was time to go! We packed and moved from 3/29 to 4/2. We reopened for patient care on 4/4. Our new location is more secure and has onsite management. It is also very accessible by metro rail and not very far from our prior location. We are excited to make this space our own and our patients are excited too. We had a financial plan for the costs of the move. We were executing that plan well to start the year, then our Google ad didn't run for almost 4 weeks. All of our initial gains were absorbed into routine expenses and we ultimately ended in a deficit financially after paying the deposit for the new space.  We have been slow to return to normal patient volume and all revenue from operations is going directly back into operations, not moving expenses. My fundraising goal is $10,000 and $1,740 has been raised offline. We're excited to take our vision to the next level in our new location.
