We are starting Desert Sky Strings, a community orchestra based in Phoenix, AZ, dedicated to bringing musicians of all skills and identities together to create music and build confidence as artists. This project is close to our hearts, and we believe it will make a meaningful impact in our community by offering a welcoming space for everyone who loves music.
We are currently rehearsing twice a month at a community center and working on our initial set of music. We are hoping for our first concert to be this fall or winter. While our current focus is string instruments, we would like to grow our ensemble to eventually include all instruments, and our programming will include social events that are not instrument specific. To launch Desert Sky Strings, we need funds for our first rehearsal and performance space, which will allow us to host our initial concert cycle. These funds will also cover the administrative costs required to become a 501C3 nonprofit, making the dream of Desert Sky Strings a reality. Once we hold our first concert, the proceeds will help sustain and grow the orchestra program, ensuring that it continues to serve our community.
