Hi my name is Lisa and I am trying to raise funds for my recently departed friend Des Lowther who passed away aged 68 on 2nd October 25 after suffering from bowel cancer for many years.

Des leaves no family only friends behind, he worked extremely hard all his life and unfortunately succombed to cancer in October.

He lived in Prudhoe all his adult life and due to him dying in Newcastle Rvi, Northumberland council will not cover his funeral expenses as he died outside their jurisdiction apparently.

Newcastle council have said it is not their responsibility either and the RVI will not cover the direct cremation expenses.

The money he leaves isn’t enough to cover the cost of the funeral, and he had debts which supersede what was left so it is likely the bank will not be able to cover all the funeral expenses.

His dignity has been taken and the chance to say our goodbyes stripped from us given it has now been two months since he passed away.

This is a matter of public health which has been denied him.

he worked so hard and claimed very little in his life time.
