To Know Him Is to Love Him – Meet De'Omrie McAfee
If you've ever met De'Omrie McAfee, you know his smile is unforgettable. Despite unimaginable challenges, that bright, contagious smile never fades. In October 2023, De'Omrie's life changed forever when he was tragically and accidentally struck in the neck by a ricocheted bullet. The injury left him a quadriplegic.
Before the accident, De'Omrie was a vibrant, athletic teenager who loved playing football. Today, while he’s confined to a wheelchair, his spirit remains unshaken. He continues to uplift everyone around him with his resilience, joy, and hope. Those who know him have no doubt—his comeback story is just beginning.
Now, we're asking for your help.
De'Omrie and his family would never ask on their own, but the need is great. He requires around-the-clock care, which prevents his mother from working as much as she would like at her 2 jobs. They are in urgent need of:
A wheelchair-accessible van with working air conditioning to safely transport De'Omrie and his younger siblings.
They need a washer and dryer in their house.
Handicap-accessible modifications for their home.
Financial support for medical and daily living expenses.
Most of all, De'Omrie needs the chance to get out of the house this summer—to see new places, breathe fresh air, and experience life beyond four walls. A properly equipped van would give him the freedom and joy every teenager deserves.
This GoFundMe was created because so many people have asked how they can support this incredible young man and his equally amazing family. We are his nurses, teachers, and caregivers—people who have the privilege of knowing and loving De'Omrie firsthand.
If you're able, please consider donating. Every bit helps—and every act of kindness brings De'Omrie closer to the freedom and quality of life he deserves.
Thank you for your compassion and support.
