Des and His 24 Rescue Cats Will lose their home at the End of This Month
For decades, Des and his wife Molly dedicated their lives to rescuing cats and dogs from the toughest streets of New York — saving the forgotten, the frightened, and the abandoned.
When Molly became ill with cancer, Des left both of his jobs to care for her full-time, standing by her side until she passed on October 5th, 2025.
She was not only the love of his life, but also his partner in rescue — together they saved countless animals and gave them a chance at love.
After months of treatments and medical expenses, Des has lost nearly everything, and now faces the loss of his home at the end of this month.
Along with him are 24 rescue cats who still depend on him for food, comfort, and safety.
He refuses to abandon them, even as he struggles to figure out where he himself will go.
Funds raised will go toward food, vet care, and temporary placement or boarding for the cats while Des searches for housing and forever homes for the cats.
He’s never asked for help before, but now he truly can’t do this alone.
Please donate, share, or foster if you can — time is running out for Des and the cats he and Molly devoted their lives to saving.
