Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers,

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

On the night of September 1st, our father, Derryl M. Blanton, passed away in San Antonio, Texas. He spent the last 17 years living with a traumatic brain injury—an injury that not only changed the course of his life, but also made him ineligible for life insurance.

It is our deepest wish to bring our father home to Oklahoma City. He was unable to discuss afterlife plans due to his brain injury, but we believe it was his wish, too. He will be laid to rest in Oklahoma City alongside his parents, cherished granddaughter, late wife Jackie, and other close family members. We want to honor him with the dignity and peace he deserves.

While we would love nothing more than to cover these costs ourselves, recent life changes—including a major relocation and the start of new employment—have made that difficult. That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe: to ask for help with transportation and funeral expenses.

We know times are hard for many. If you’re not in a position to give, please don’t feel pressured at all—your prayers, kind thoughts, and words of encouragement mean just as much to us. But if you are able to contribute, even a small amount will help.
