Raise for Derriford Hospital's Oncology & Brent wards

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am looking to raise money for Derriford hospital's Brent & acute oncology wards. In return for your kind donations, I am participating in a full distance Ironman triathlon on the 17th of August 2025. For those who don't know, the event consists of a 3.8KM swim, 180KM cycle & a 42.2 KM (marathon) run, globally recognised as an extremely hard endurance event.

So, why?

As many reading this will know from my previous fundraisers, however for those who are unaware... In 2022 my mum was diagnosed with a terminal stage of breast cancer which had spread to other areas of her body, and was told she only had weeks to live, it is safe to say our lives were turned upside down.

Over 3 years on, she has given a big fuck you to her cancer multiple times with successful enough treatments to prevent the cancer and her condition from taking her from us, with an unholy amounts ups and downs. As I am writing this,
we are are only a few months on from a time of preparing for the worst, where mum was with Derriford's Brent ward and the amazing staff that work tirelessly to help the people in their care. As of today, we were told yesterday that she will have to spend the next few weeks in hospital again due to a couple complications, meaning she will likely be there when I do the event. I tell you this rawly so you can sense a feeling of the realities of cancer not only in my family and I's situation but across the country and the world.

She is absolutely incredible and I am still in awe of her demonstration of consistent strength and resilience, my efforts in training for the Ironman are not a scratch on the magnitude of persistence she shows day in, day out and it just pushes me more to try and squeeze what I can out of life. This and everything I do is for her.

The money we raise gets put to good use and helps the people who deserve it, previous fundraisers have allowed the hospital to buy a new TV for the wards and the patients in it, as well as Plymouth's Lymphoedema clinic purchasing a new machine which they kindly allowed my mum to bring home with her, for comfort instead of travelling there for treatment every week and then some money being put back for the wards staff Christmas celebrations as a testament to their hard work.

If you read this far then thank you, any donations, shares or awareness being spread is wholeheartedly appreciated and I hope to make everyone proud.
