Hello,

The Derrickson's are a lovely young family that I have had the pleasure to get to know since their arrival in Backwell. Veryan and her husband Will have two young children (4 and 2), one who attends the local primary school. They have recently moved to Backwell village after a period of time in the States.

They were living in their semi-detached rental property for just over a month, when a house fire started in the adjoining property and the fire engulfed both homes. They escaped and are safe, but their newly purchased furniture and treasured personal belongings have largely been damaged or destroyed. They have retrieved what they can from the house and have been told they will no longer be able to live there due to extensive damage to the property.

After so much upheaval already for this family, they are having to find their feet all over again. They do not have family or social networks established yet in the area so they are relying on the kindness of strangers to help them through this incredibly difficult time. Any funding (no matter how small) would greatly help relieve The Derrickson Family of some of the financial stress this situation has created.

The community has already rallied around to help them to find suitable alternative accommodation. They won't be able to move in immediately, so they are relying on a combination of hotels and staying with family 3 hours away until they can move into a new home.

The funds raised here will go directly to The Derrickson Family to help them get back on their feet and recover the costs of purchasing replacement furniture, mattresses, bedding, clothing and other personal items, as well as any other costs incurred as a direct result of the fire.
