Derrick's Kidney Transplant and Medicines
Donation protected
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure last July and it had me in the hospital for almost a month. I continued to work up until January of this year 2019 when I was considered to be 100% disabled. After having my first meeting with the kidney transplant specialist, two things stood out among all the information. 1. I need a kidney SOON preferably donated by a LIVING DONOR in order to live. 2. This entire process is very expensive with all the tests, surgeries, and medicines. I normally would not even put my business out like this but hey, pride is of the devil and I owe it to my wife and kids to do anything and everything possible to live longer for them. Since I am unable to work due to ongoing dialysis treatments and unable to support my family, I am asking for your help in a few different ways. My wife, God bless her, does everything for me. All the simple things that most of us take for granted, I can no longer do for myself, so she has to do it all. Whether it be something as simple as helping me put on my socks and shoes (I cant do anything with my right arm which was my dominant hand) or something major like helping me shower or driving me to all my appointments 3 times a week, she still manages to go to school full time, take care of our children and house, and runs her own business. Right now, as disability still has not kicked in, our financial situation is scary from day to day. We are asking for your help by either donating here, coming to our Fund Raising Bake Sales(if you have had Shawn's Sweets, you know it's worth it) or even the major part, volunteering to be tested as a possible kidney donor. I have ton of work to do on my end and other surgeries before we get to that part, however, the doctor recommends trying to find as many people as soon as possible to see if they would be a match. He wants me to be able to have the surgery before I turn 43, which will be in December. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated and we are grateful for all the prayers and kind words as well. God bless.
