When I started making films in 2012, I didn’t have the slightest idea what I was doing. To be honest, I still don’t. Whether it is a film about two warring angels, a revolt in a small Ohio town, love and heartbreak in a laundromat, a personal testimony of faith or a story about health anxiety and COVID, I have told the story that was on my heart.
Derrick Magnum is that story right now. Here is the log line:
“Derrick is one of the leading directors/creative forces in the Superhero genre today. When his wife (posthumously) publishes a tell-all book about his years of misconduct toward her, he loses everything. Now, years later, he tries to find redemption in the eyes of his 21-year-old son.”
I remember watching the Discovery + Armie Hammer documentary and thinking “This cat is selling timeshares now” - How humbling is that? Can one find redemption? Are there things that are unredeemable? That is Derrick’s story- an attempt to answer those questions.
As for what your money will be used for? I mention this in detail during the video but Festival and marketing costs, feeding the actors and paying the composer.
