It is with a heavy heart that we lost our best friend and the world lost a Great man, Derrick Green, on the night of November 22, 2019.
What we know as the common flu, took a turn for the worst, and became uncommon in form and unexpectedly, Derrick gained his wings and was called to Heaven.
Throughout his life and military career, Derrick touched so many lives, which has never been more apparent than now. He took the time to develop every relationship and was authentic to the core. Derrick was a decorated disabled veteran who did not let a day pass by without lending a helping hand. He was the type to check in on you randomly, because he genuinely cared. He was funny, dedicated to his family and LOVED his children.
Derrick and his wife Simone were together for over 10 years and have two beautiful boys, Marcus (6) and Domonic (18 months). Derrick also has two daughters, Destiny and Taylor. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and many people have asked how they can help beyond their thoughts and prayers. We have set this fund up as a way to honor Derrick, a man whose priority was his family, and to wrap our arms around Simone to help reduce some of the financial stresses for the hard days ahead of her.
We hope our families can join together and show how incredibly loved and admired Derrick was. To provide for the boys, who will remember their daddy through photos and stories told for years to come. There is nothing that can lessen the loss, but we can help build a future.
Derrick, Battle, you were truly one of a kind. A gentle soul, with the Heart of a Giant. You will be sorely missed. We will always remember you and will honor your life each day by loving our families as you did yours.
