Help the Derrick Family Recover After a Devastating House Fire

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Derrick family experienced a horrific house fire that destroyed everything they owned.

Josh and Jenny, their 17 year old son, their 7 year old daughter, and both Josh and Jenny's mothers all lived together in their home.

Thankfully, everyone made it out with their lives, but the loss was devastating….years of memories, belongings, and stability were gone in an instant.

What makes this even more heartbreaking is that the Derricks had just purchased a bigger home in Seabrook just weeks ago. They were in the process of remodeling the kitchen before moving in, excited to start a new chapter together. Now, instead of preparing to move into their dream home, they are trying to recover from a total loss and rebuild their lives from the ground up. They had only moved in Josh’s arcade equipment and purchased new mattresses for the new home the night before the fire. They literally lost everything.

However, having this new house has truly been a godsend for the Derrick family. It has given them a place of stability and hope in the midst of chaos and loss. With both of their mothers facing medical issues and disabilities, and their youngest daughter struggling to cope with the loss of all the familiar things that once brought her comfort, this time has been incredibly emotional and difficult.

To add to this tragedy, their two beloved cats fled during the fire and are still missing. They have been searching tirelessly and holding out hope that their fur babies will find their way back home. They are devastated without them.

While insurance will help with some of the recovery costs, it takes time and won’t come close to covering everything they’ll need to replace, from clothing, furniture, appliances, household essentials, and so much more.

Josh and Jenny are the kind of people who always show up for others - family, friends, and community alike. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
