Derrick Anthony Scott was born May 28th, 1989 and passed on the morning of October 12, 2020. He lived quite a life in his 31 years! He was an unforgettable and amazing man to the many he touched. He's been a mentor, coach, a good friend, and dearly loved by his family. He had the gift of gab and love for people, especially youth.
Derrick devoted himself to the youth at Collingswood for about 10 years with their Basketball and Football programs. He's won multiple championships with middle school age children in basketball and football. Derrick was Mr. Collingswood, and will hold the title forever.
Derrick was my best friend and we grew up into great men, just as our mothers grew up as best friends together. We held a special bond that felt more like brothers, than friends. I went to his family reunions and he went to mine. He was just as much a Murphy as I was a Scott.
During the pandemic, Derrick was inspired to start Coach Dscott Fitness, his fitness training company. Derrick created a way for us to get out of the house and challenged us to work out and get in shape, while following CDC guidelines.
What started off as a fitness challenge, turned into a full fledged business with, personal training, couples fitness and children sports programs. He impacted so many lives, even those who were out of state. He kept them accountable and focusing on their health and fitness.
It is a difficult time right now for all of us experiencing the grief of his passing. We wish would could have just one more day to hear his laugh and feel his loving energy.
As we prepare to give him a proper burial and remember him, we would greatly appreciate a gift toward the cost to do so. Please help us honor him, his family and loved ones. Thank you in advance for your generosity and blessings.
