Derpwolf's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
This is Derpwolf. He is my best friend and emotional support animal. I adopted him when he was a puppy and trained him to assist with my ongoing mental health issues. He has been a blessing and a wonderful animal companion over the past 9 years. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with hemangiopericytoma. Thankfully for us, it is not metastatic and his lungs look great, but the only treatment for him to ensure a great quality of life is surgical removal and chemotherapy.
Due to the nature of the tumors (3 large ones on his front right leg, near the elbow), surgical removal won't produce margins that guarantee that his cancer will be fully removed without fully amputating the leg. His oncologist and I agreed that would drastically reduce the quality of Derpwolf's life and we agreed to remove as much of the tumors as possible and to treat the remaining cancer with electrochemotherapy. This will reduce the number of treatments that he'll need and it is usually at a 95% response rate.
Here's the kicker-- the surgery alone is going to cost approximately $6,000 and his electrochemotherapy will be about another $2-3,000. Because I am a single mother who will need to take time off of my primary job and part-time work to care for Derpwolf while he recovers, I'm looking at lost wages too.
We've been there for each other for nearly a decade and I cannot stand to see him suffer, and I don't want to be forced to choose between rent and/or feeding my child and the health of my best friend. Anything you are willing to spare is a blessing and we are forever grateful for your kindness. Thank you <3
