Hello!

My name is Donya M Amini!

I'm an Iranian/Canadian filmmaker based in Vancouver BC. My work explores themes of childhood and memory, through cultural fairytales with elements of theatrical music and dance.

My upcoming new short film "Dernière Dance" is a whimsical magical tail of two worlds colliding together while pulling the universe apart!

When a ballerina's soul turns traitor, a ballerina’s inner life erupts into a surrealist nightmare. A impossible terrain where she is driven by a hidden, relentless torment to chase fleeting relief, forever running from the crackling inferno to the paralyzing tundra, only to find neither world will hold her.

This film tackles the internal struggles of dealing with chronic pain and its forever impacts on daily life. Pushing ourselves past our current limits to prove that we are still who we are despite our "weakness's". Despite out body "failing us". Pushing ourselves past the point of no return, dancing on tin ice wearing pointe shoes ablaze.

This is my first short film out of Film School and would love your support!
