Imagine a day starting like any other normal day. Kids go off to school, husband heads off to work.

Then imagine, just a few hours later, you and your youngest child find yourselves watching in absolute horror and disbelief as your entire lives and house burn to the ground.

There’s nothing you can do….memories, pet, your entire life’s possessions, stolen by a cruel inferno. Fire has taken everything.

This has happened to The Derks family of regional Victorian town, Wedderburn.

Evie, Steven, and their 5 kids find themselves living in the nightmare of having lost everything in a house fire on the morning of Friday 8th August, 2025.

They have the clothes on their backs, and each other. But let’s show them they also have us.

In the coming days and weeks they will need basics like toothbrushes and toiletries, clothes, shoes, accommodation, food. A foundation of sorts as they try to piece together where to from here, and give their kids some sense of normality in a horrific situation.

Let’s band together and help this family get back on their feet. We know times are tough at the moment, everyone is feeling the pinch, but believe me when I say every dollar will help, no matter how small. Every cent will be appreciated to give this traumatised family a bit of much needed cash flow. Let’s help get them back on their feet in these first initial weeks, and beyond.
