If you know Derick, you know how giving he is. Never says NO. Never complains and is always willing to "MAKE IT HAPPEN" for whoever needs him.
On October 16th, 2018 Derick went to the Doctor after 2 days of headaches. He was seen by his Doctor who sent him to the hospital for a few more tests and then was transferred to another hospital where it was determined he had a mass in his brain.
The next day Derick had major brain surgery to resect the mass, and it was determined he has a Grade 4 Glioblastoma. As is typical with Derick, the fighter and positive light he always has been, 2 days later he was discharged from ICU to go home without even going to a regular room. 'Cause that's how he does it.
While working on getting the best possible attention for treatment, it was discovered that Derick needed another surgery to remove more of the mass in order to undergo radiation and chemotherapy.
Derick has been non-stop with talking about getting past this so he can return to work. He's a workhorse. As he always says "it's not work, it's a hobby". But what I'd like is to collectively send Derick on a Dream Trip of his choice after his treatment before returning to work.
Since he is always the giver and never asks for anything, it's our opportunity to say, "Thank You, Derick, for all you do for EVERYONE! Now go somewhere you've always dreamed of!"
His medical bills are mounting, and while he would never ask for this, he is beyond deserving. I would love to show him how much he's loved and give him a little escape to enjoy this incredible world that is a better place because he is in it.
