Derek Kiehn Recovery Fund

Derek Kiehn was severely injured in an alpine climbing accident on January 1, 2016. He is in a hospital in Germany. We, his friends, want to support his parents Nancy and Marc and partner Fabienne.

They need transportation and lodging while they watch over Derek. At this point, we don't know what the long-term outcome will be, but we do know there will be significant costs. This website is being set up to help defray those costs.

Immediate needs are to support the family until Derek's prospects are known, and then to provide whatever is needed, from airfare to rent to rehab to, in a worst case scenario, funeral expenses.

For updates on his condition, visit CaringBridge and search for Derek Kiehn. You will need to join CaringBridge to see the site and updates, but it is free. Here is the link: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/derekkiehn

Want to make a donation but can't really afford it? Wish you could do more? Here's your opportunity... Contributing emotional support to Derek's healing process is just as important (if not more so) than financial support. Please click on the link below to record a video message for him. The doctors have stressed that this will be crucial for his healing process. Tell him a funny story, share a fond memory you have of him, play a song that makes you think about him, give him an update on what has been going on in your life since you last saw him, etc. This is a tangible and concrete way you can help (and it won't cost you a dime :)
