Derek Flath

I'm starting this go fund me for Derek Flath. In the last couple months he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Derek and his wife Jordan have a beautiful family to support, and his next treatment journey is going to take him out of work for at least 4 months. So I'm aiming to raise atleast $10,000 for them to help supplement his lost income.

The following is a recent update on his situation, from Jordan.

"Derek had a complete radical orchiectomy last month, which was uncomplicated and reassuring given that there was minimal infiltration of surrounding tissues and structures. 3 weeks later his tumor markers had dropped significantly, but still not within normal limits. Friday, at his general oncology follow up in Buffalo, his markers had doubled, and are higher now than they were pre op. There is a nodule in his right lung, and the cancer has metastasized elsewhere. Given the small size of the mass in his lung, and the elevation of his markers, it is unlikely that is the only area of disease. He is now facing at least 4 months of intensive, inpatient chemotherapy in Buffalo. 5 days inpatient at a time. He will be admitted to Roswell for the the entire 5 days, every 21 days. There was a lot to take in, and not a lot of time to process but from what we understand, the type and duration of the chemo he will have to receive is out of the scope of what can safely be done here locally and his team wants continuous monitoring during his infusions. His oncologist is not wasting any time, and while he has been optimistic in the treatment plan was very frank with how hard, and fast Derek needs to be treated. His port will go in next week, and chemotherapy to begin immediately.

Anything you can donate will help. Derek is an amazing man. I'm sure one of his biggest concerns is making sure his family is taken care of, because that is his job as a man. Please help alleviate that stress by donating anything you can. I know some of his family is starting to plan a benefit for him aswell, so stay tuned for that info as it comes out.
