Derbyshire 3 peaks challenge for Kings Lodge

We are Sophie and Lewis. On June 22nd we, along with Jack Carter, will be doing the Derbyshire 3 peaks challenge to raise money for Ward 3 (King’s Lodge), Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. We will be walking alongside my Uni bestie Gracie and her boyfriend who will be raising money for the MS Society for her Grandma.

Last year our dad had a huge haemorrhagic stroke which left him in a coma fighting for his life in intensive care following several hours of brain surgery. He spent 15 weeks in Kings Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit where he had sessions of physio therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. They also did extra activities like animal therapy where birds of prey were brought into the ward for the patients to hold, which dad loved, as well as art and music sessions. The incredible support from Kings Lodge changed Dad’s life, he’s managed to achieve so much in his recovery with lots of help from the amazing team. From relearning how to talk, feed himself, and take his first steps again, they enabled him to gain more independence and become our dad again.
