Me and Katie have decided to skydive 10,000 feet out of a plane, up to speeds of 120mph, on May 17th. 6 days prior, I will also be running the Leeds marathon. This will be my first marathon! It is something we have both always wanted to do and so we thought why not do it to raise money for the department we work in! We will be raising money for Derby and Burton Hospital Charity, in particular for Pathology. As 2 young girls working in Cytology we believe it’s important to raise awareness of how important it is to go for a smear test; having a test is thought to save around 5000 lives every year in the UK. We’re 1 of 8 cytology laboratories within the country processing an average of 300,000 -330,000 cervical smears each year.
