BRAZIL FLOODS

The state of Rio Grande do Sul is facing the worst flood in its history, impacting over 1.476 million people as a result of heavy storms. Many cities are now without essential services like electricity and clean water, leaving communities entirely cut off. Of the 497 municipalities, 429 are facing the consequences of this natural disaster, with no respite in sight as rain is expected to persist for the next five days. The water level of the Guaíba River, the state's primary waterway, is not expected to drop below 3 meters (9’10) for at least 32 days. Adding to the urgency, many elderly residents remain stranded in their homes due to mobility issues, while children are separated from their families and numerous animals have either been abandoned or gone missing amid the floods. Our relief efforts are centered on securing clean drinking water, as it remains the most urgent need statewide. Additionally, a portion of the donations will be earmarked for medicines, personal hygiene essentials, food supplies and pet food.
