Derailed: To Turtle; Love, Dolphin - A Fall 2025 BA Capstone

Hello! This is the fundraising page for "Derailed: To Turtle; From, Dolphin", an upcoming Fall 2025 BA Capstone Project at Emerson College.

This short film is made in dedication to Nathan Raymond Noel. On November 23rd, 2023, I lost him to suicide after eight years of friendship. We were both 20. I was getting my Associate's in Film with the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) at the time, and I decided to record a video diary of myself during the weekend of his wake and funeral (linked on the page, but be warned, it is long and heavy). The diary won several awards at CCRI's 2024 film festival and got me interested in how we commemorate people through media.

"Derailed" is about two people who meet at a train track and change each other's days—and maybe their lives. It's not an attempt to rewrite what happened to Nathan, but rather to inspire us to not let these things repeat while we still have the chance. As a special way of including Nathan's family, his mother will help record the end credits song, which I plan to write myself.
