On Sunday, October 5th, family and friends received news of a devastating tragedy. DeQurae Murrel, lovingly known as “Rae,” was an innocent victim of a senseless shooting. On Monday, October 6th, Rae’s family had to make an extremely difficult decision to end life-sustaining measures.

Rae was a “Rae of Sunshine.” She had a heart for people, especially children, and had a special way of connecting with anyone she met. This unforeseen tragedy reminds us how precious life can be and has left an unimaginable void.

Your support, no matter the amount, would mean so much to her mother, Dee Dee, to help lighten the burden she is already facing. Due to her mother’s nature of work, she first must be mentally and emotionally grounded before helping others. As she takes time away to heal from this unimaginable heartbreak, she must continue providing for her other children, manage household expenses, and will also need a new vehicle as hers is now a complete loss from the incident.
