Deputy Sheriff loses home during Hurricane Helene

On Friday, September 27th, 2024, Sgt. Amanda Owensby, of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, lost her home to a landslide during Hurricane Helene. Amanda was actively working to rescue other victims of the storm when she got the call. The home is a total loss. Amanda, her roommate Chrissy (also a first responder), and their pets have been displaced and have lost EVERYTHING! Amanda is my best friend and the best person I have ever known. Her pets are currently at the shelter and she and Chrissy are staying in hotels while both are still working through the storm recovery. Please donate to them if you can!
