My brother, Mark Sarvis, Deputy Sherriff of St. Lucie County Florida, was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident November 24, 2019. He has remained in Lawnwood Regional Trauma Center's "Trauma ICU" for the last 23 days and isn't going anywhere soon. 13 surgeries thus far and several more needed at a minimum.
Mark will continue to fight and I believe he will walk out of this hospital one day. The accident was not his fault. To be clear, Mark was not on duty at the time of his accident, and I've stayed everynight in the same room with Mark...not leaving him alone. When he is alert and comes too.. He will know I'm here helping him.
We all have events in our lives, bills, families, etc, that need money to cover their costs. Mark was never married and had no kids or significant other at the time of this accident. So he will face all the expences alone and almost with 100% certainty he will never work in the field that he has served his community for the last 23 years, all in St. Lucie, Florida, also serving his country before that in the Navy. Mark lastly was fullfilling the role as a SRO student resource officer at Mariposa Elementary School. Filling and accepting details on nights, weekends, and holidays, keeping his community safe.
Mark was involved in many groups. He had become friends with a vast number of his peers, coworkers, motorcycle riders, and community; touching the hearts of many and keeping the children at Mariposa safe was truly a calling of Mark's. Not every officer can make hundreds of elementary school kids feel worthy and safe, yet, Mark did.
This can happen to anyone: you, me, your family. Maybe you can't donate, and that's fine...can you at least share this fundraiser?? Please. Or hold Mark in your prayers and ask his recovery be guided by God's healing hands.
