Deputy Joe Pate Kidney Transplant

Joe was born with  Uromodulin Associate Kidney Disease. This is a genetic kidney disease that is progressive, and for Joe requires a kidney transplant. He has fortunately found a compatible donor. He will be undergoing the kidney transplant in January or early February. After his transplant he will have a long period where he will need to be out of work to recover for at least 3 months.  

His wife Kayla will be his support person to provide care in the hospital and manage his medical appointments after the surgery; she will also need to take at least a month off from work to support Joe through this difficult time. They will have extensive out of pocket expenses and their regular household expenses to cover.

Kayla and Joe have 3 children: Remington, age 12, Makenlie, age 11, and Ellie, age 6, to care for and they have also taken Keaton, age 2, into their home and hearts as a foster child. Joe is a Sheriff's Deputy for Yancey county, and Kayla is a nurse at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. They are both hard working and kind individuals. They are assets to our community and would benefit from some financial support during this time. Please contribute what you can.
