Deputy Carr's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Sunday, January 8th, Deputy Shelby Carr experienced a massive stroke. Shelby was life flighted to Portneuf Medical Center in serious to critical condition where she received emergency surgery to find the blood clot in her brain that caused the stroke. Part of Shelby's skull was removed to alleviate pressure on her brain. A part of the clot was located, but part of the clot may remain. Initially Shelby was unable to speak, but as time has progressed, so has Shelby's functioning. Shelby was only able to sign with her fingers, but this afternoon she is able to speak very little. She is in the care of the medical staff at Portneuf Medical Center with her husband, two young boys, and her mom and dad by her side. Shelby's mom says despite her condition, she hasn't lost her wit. She is still making jokes. Shelby will remain in the ICU for at least another week, all depending on how she continues to progress.
Shelby works for the Cassia County Sheriff's Office in Burley, Idaho where she has served since October of 2021. All funds will be used exclusively to help Shelby's family with medical costs and travel for the family.
When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding
With both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
Until their story’s told.
Let me never make a judgment
In a rash or callous way.
But let me hold my patience,
Let each man have his say.
Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord with your everlasting love
Protect my family and my friends.
God look upon Shelby with eyes of Mercy. May your healing hand rest upon her. May your grace flow into every cell of her body and soul.
