Deon's camp fundraiser

Hello, my name is Kailey Bergner. I am a single mother to two amazing children. Today I am reaching out on behalf of my son, Deon.

Deon is an extraordinary student and athlete, and an all-around great kid. Deon is finishing up his junior year at Denfeld High School and next year will be setting his sights on college.

Deon has maintained a 4.0 GPA for almost his entire high school career. He has a passion for football and has, in the last two years, added track to his interests. Deon is self-motivated and has aspirations of getting a college scholarship to further his education and in hopes of playing college football.

Recently, we have found the best way to get exposure to colleges is to participate in Showcase Camps. We are looking at three to five camps that he would like to attend this summer, with the costs equaling $2,000 (for camp cost and travel).

Being a single mother is challenging, and with today’s economy, it is hard to keep our heads above water, let alone find extra to afford these opportunities that will allow Deon to get the exposure he needs to reach his dreams. When I ask Deon what his dreams look like for the future, he always says to play football and get a good education.

Growing up with so many negative influences surrounding our youth these days, Deon has taken it upon himself to stay out of trouble by working hard at school, on the field, and in the weight room.

He deserves this chance, and I am asking for help from those who know and love him. Even a share or donation of any sort would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I will be doing a bake sale with my cake cups at the end of this month to put the proceeds towards his camps, as well as doing a lemonade stand that Deon's sister said she would love to help with to raise money for her big brother.
