The time has come — I (Deon, she/her, trans woman, multi-hyphenate) am reaching out for your support in my recovery from upcoming corrective and gender affirming surgeries in August.

Sometimes the first round of FFS doesn’t quite go to plan, so there have been health complications from my previous procedure that require surgical intervention, and honestly, the last doctor didn’t yank it fierce enough, so the correction will be combined with a couple additional gender-affirming procedures.

While I am lucky enough to have most of the surgery itself covered by insurance, I am entirely self-employed, running a one-person business that I will need to take 2-4 weeks away from, meaning up to a month of no income and little means to supplement it. Your donation will make it possible for me to cover rent, purchase healthy groceries, secure pet care in my absence, book the necessary post-surgical treatments and more. It could make the difference between survival and ruination next month while the economy and thus my own finances go into a tailspin.
