Denyce’s Fight to Beat Cancer

Hello - our names are Roxanne and Michelle and we are Denyce McLaughlin’s (Heyer) sisters. We are starting this Go Fund Me to take some burden off of our beautiful sister Denyce and her wonderful family during this scary, sad time. 

At the end of December, Denyce was told the words no one wants to hear....you have cancer.

Fast forward a terrifying few weeks and an emotional roller coaster ride later, she has been officially diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer (T3bN1M0) - tumor with surrounding lymph node involvement, but it has been confirmed that the cancer has NOT spread to distant organs). Her medical plan will consist of chemo for 4 months (8 rounds), 1 month rest, then 5 days of radiation followed by an immediate surgery to remove the tumor. We are all very confident in this plan to successfully get her back to good health!

Those who know Denyce well or have even met her once, LOVE her. She brings sparkle and fun to every room she walks into. Devoted wife to Fran, mom of 2 amazing kids, and successful business owner of Wyoming Golden Retrievers. Denyce has built a reputable business from the ground up over the last 26 years breeding beautiful puppies for so many families to enjoy around the country!

Something you must know as you follow Denyce on this journey is that when she puts her mind to something, she goes to the EXTREME to accomplish what she wants....and has yet to fail!! This is a trait we have given her crap about for years because she is the queen of overboard. We have quickly realized that this trait will be what saves her life and kicks cancer’s ass!

That being said, we can't ignore or sugarcoat the fight that is in front of her and her family to ultimately be free of this disease. There are inevitably some dark, unknown days ahead.

Denyce is fortunate and is being treated at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We are very confident in their plan and care for her. She and Fran have already been back and forth several times in the last few weeks. Although she will receive her chemo at a local hospital in St. Croix Falls over the next 4 months, she will continue to travel over 2 hours one way to Mayo for all scans, radiation, surgery and overall care.

Fran will continue to support the family working every day, but no doubt he will need extra help around the house. Denyce will continue to run her business as planned, but this unfortunate news has required her to hire qualified help for the time being to keep it in place.

The number one question she is getting asked is 'how can I help you'? … so that’s why we have set up this Go Fund Me - to help take the stress off the large medical expenses due to her illness, travel for treatment, and to take the burden off the extra cost of hiring help around the house.
