Friends and Acquaintances,
I am starting this campaingn in an effort to raise funds for a dear friend who is in greater need than what we hope to accomplish through this fundraiser. Other friends and I, in the least, are hopeful it could put her on the path to recovery. Our desire is to raise enough through donations to cover the cost for a set of dentures. It is estimated to take 4 dental visits here in the San Gabriel Valley.
Jatis is a dear high school friend whom I have known for 46 years. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis approximately 25 years ago and has struggled with health issues since. Fast forward to just two and a half years ago she fell in her home and broke her back. Her back surgery did not fare well due to insuffient bone strength/mass resulting from osteoporosis. She is due for reconstructive surgery when her doctor deems her healthy enough to undgo a second surgery. To complicate the issue she has lost all of her teeth. Needless to say her diet suffers an imbalance which prolongs her healing process. She and her husband have attempted to complete the necessary dental work however, they encoutered an unethical dentist who essentially wrung them dry financially. Her husband has since given up and abondoned her. She is now alone, living in the desert area, a two hour drive from nearest friends or relatives. To make matters worse, she recently crashed her car in an effort to avoid hitting a neighbors dog. The 35 year old vehicle was totaled. She now has no transportation and relys on neighbors for help getting her to the market. Living on a fixed disability income with no assistance from her estranged spouse she is able to manage her mortgage and has barely enough to cover her utilities, not to mention her groceries.
All this befalls a woman who is certainly not deserving of such hardships. It is indeed a small effort to help raise funds for a set of dentures for a friend in dire need. If you can find it in your heart and are able, please consider a donation to this cause. After all is said and done.........."It is in giving that we receive".
Thank you,
Philip Pilosian
