Jon is normally a very private person, and sharing this hasn’t come easy. But after everything he’s been through, and with people encouraging him to reach out, we feel there’s no other option to get the treatment he needs as quickly as possible and get back to living a normal life.
Six years ago, Jon was involved in a serious bike accident. During emergency treatment, paramedics had to remove his front tooth to get a tube down his throat. The accident caused significant trauma to his teeth, and over time they deteriorated and began to crumble, making it increasingly painful for him to eat.
Jon has a severe phobia of dentists and needles, which meant he avoided treatment for years. It took a huge amount of courage for him to finally face this fear, as well as a long time to save the money needed to fix his teeth.
He eventually chose to go to a clinic in Turkey, after being reassured that proper assessments would be carried out before any treatment. He was told he would receive full scans, including a 3D scan, to ensure he was suitable for implants. Due to his phobia, he also paid extra for sedation so he wouldn’t have to go through the procedures awake.
In January 2026, Jon travelled to the clinic for treatment. Unfortunately, the proper assessments he had been promised did not take place, and treatment went ahead anyway. All of his natural teeth were removed, and 14 implants were placed into his gums, with temporary teeth cemented on.
After a few weeks, his temporary teeth fell out, followed by severe pain. He had to return to the clinic, where he was told that two implants had failed and needed replacing. He was sedated again, at his own expense, for further treatment.
While he was under sedation, all of his implants were removed WITHOUT his knowledge or consent. Waking up to discover this was devastating.
The clinic then told him that his gums had not healed, and claimed he had diabetes and a disease, without clearly explaining what they meant.
He was then told that he could not have implants at all, leaving him without any functional teeth.
When Jon returned to the UK, he immediately saw his GP, who confirmed that he does NOT have diabetes. He also visited a dentist, who diagnosed a severe gum infection. He was told that the antibiotics previously prescribed were ineffective and was given a new course to properly treat the infection.
The clinic had prescribed those same ineffective antibiotics both at the start of treatment and again when his implants were removed. From what Jon has since been told, if an infection had been present from the beginning, it could have contributed to the implants failing, but this was not properly identified or managed.
This has had a devastating impact on Jon’s life. He now struggles to eat anything, he's lost a significant amount of weight and he has lost confidence, his mental health has been affected. There are days where he doesn’t want to leave the house or go to work.
He is now facing significant additional costs just to try and repair the damage and have implants again so he can eat and this could take years.
All Jon wants is to be able to eat again and get his life back. After spending years saving for his original treatment, he is now having to start again from scratch, while trying to work and cope without proper nutrition. It’s a living nightmare.
Jon is not someone who would ever ask for help, but he is now in a position where he simply can not do this alone.
Since having a 3D scan in the UK we have determined that the treatment abroad should never have gone ahead as Jon did not have sufficient bone to support the implants, this along with an infection they failed to treat. What bone he did have was damaged by implanting and removing implants. Sinus lift was also not carried out as told and very minimal if any signs of a bone graft were found on 3D scan. Jon had no ridge so dentures are not suitable for him and they just fall out, despite trying all adhesives recommended.
Money raised will fund a full set of implants, specifically designed for people with bone loss. We have an initial quote of £18k for this to be carried out in the UK, however will be having further scans and consultations at another UK clinic and also one in Turkey. We will update everyone when we find the most suitable clinic which can provide Jon with functional teeth.
Jon is also working over 50 hour weeks at work to save towards the treatment.
Any support, donations, or even just sharing his story would mean more than words can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
With Love, Jon's family x
