Urgent! My lifelong problem with bad teeth has become a crisis.
Now is the time to fix it!
Backstory
30 years of 'dental drama' will finally come to an end in April, when I have major oral surgery to remove many broken pieces of things, have new dental appliances (upper and lower) installed, and correct the severe shuffling of my lower front teeth into a workable, pain free set of choppers!
This has been a LONG time coming. I've had 'weak teeth' since birth. My teenage years included multiple procedures, including 8 crowns, 4 root canals, and multiple fillings.
My adult years have included constant battles with mouth sores, abcesses and other unspeakable horrors.
Despite reasonable self-care, the breakage of 2 front teeth in recent months as well as the onset of my wisdom teeth mean it's finally time git 'er done.
All of the 'uppers' will go, and several of the 'back lowers', to be replaced by a full upper denture and lower partial.
The remaining lower teeth will eventually be realigned.
Process
Phase I: Oral Surgery to clean up the mess. I'm having this done in Mexico, at the well-respected Sani Dental Clinic in Los Algodones. The cost is approximately 1/2 of what I would pay here in Vermont....INCLUDING AIRFARE!
Phase II: The upper and lower appliances are mostly covered between my insurance and other Vermont programs, bringing the cost within reach.
Why This Amount?
The total I'm seeking to raise will pay for Phase I's costs, including airfare, hotel, surgery, anesthesia and follow up care.
Phase II's out-of-pocket expenses I'm covering on my own dime...workin' for it! My local dentist here in Vermont is WONDERFUL, and fully supportive of the 'dental tourism' option for surgery.
Why this timeline?
After breaking
I hope to have the new 'grill' installed and working in early May, so I can look professional and eat normally during the Karme Choling Summer Program season.
Why ask at all?
Well, I do earn a living. But have had little time to amass the savings necessary to take care of this situation before a busy summer, during which time off of work is not an option. By doing this work now, in the slow late winter months, I can get on with my life and NOT spend the next 6-9 months managing the pain of a continued decline into jagged toothlessness.
If supporting this campaign feels good to you, thank you.
If not? No hard feelings. Scroll on.
Everyone who contributes will get a link to my performance of a brand new song as a profound thank you. It's not much, but it's what I've got for now.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
