Asking for help does not come naturally to me, but I have reached a point where I cannot get through this alone. I am raising funds for medically necessary dental reconstruction resulting from the long-term effects of oral cancer treatment. In 2012–2013, I underwent surgery and radiation treatment for oral cancer. To remove the cancer, surgeons had to split my jaw in order to access and remove all of the affected tissue. The radiation treatments that followed were successful, but they also caused lasting damage to my teeth, bone health, and oral function. I am now facing extensive dental reconstruction to address those long-term effects and restore function, health, and quality of life. What began as a consequence of lifesaving treatment has become a serious functional issue that can no longer be postponed.
Even with insurance, my out-of-pocket costs are significant and include reconstructive dental care, ongoing appointments, travel expenses, follow-up treatment, and medical testing that insurance will not cover. Because I require specialized care in San Francisco, I must travel several hours for appointments and follow-up visits, creating additional transportation and related expenses throughout the process. This treatment is not cosmetic. It is necessary for my health and daily life. It is about being able to eat, speak, rebuild my strength, and prevent further complications. I have spent a long time trying to handle this on my own, but I have reached a point where I simply cannot cover these costs myself.
Asking for help is difficult, but I am deeply grateful for any support that helps make this care possible. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward treatment costs, travel, follow-up care, and other medically necessary expenses that are not covered by insurance. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping me in your thoughts is also deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you are able to give. Every act of generosity helps me move closer to health, stability, and a better quality of life.
