Dental Funds for Maple
A few months ago I noticed that my cat Maple had red inflamed gums. When I asked the vet about this he told me she simply needed a teeth cleaning and that teeth problems were common in cats, specifically diabetic ones, but it wasn't a huge problem. It was a busy time of year for the vets in the local area, so I was only able to get her in to have her teeth looked at today by a different office. I'd been worried because she showed signs of distress when her face was rubbed anywhere near her mouth and her breath smelled awful but I genuinely thought it was, at worst, tartar build up and maybe some gum issue.
The vet just called me to tell me that she needs extractions. Nearly all of her teeth are rotting out of her mouth and need to be removed, if not just for the pain but because dental issues directly affect how her body takes in insulin as well. The only teeth being salvaged are her bottom canines and the small teeth at the front.
Its going to be about a week of medicine as well as the initial costs for the dental surgery; I was told the estimate was 1200 to 1400$. I'll know more in a few hours but its necessary to get this up as soon as possible.
Any bit helps. Thank you so much for reading.
