Dental Care for Sweet Pea

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Sam Rosenthal from Projekt Records and Black tape for a blue girl. I am raising funds to help my partner's 7-year-old ragdoll kitty Sweet Pea get dental care.

Mercy (my partner) and I adopted our cats on the same December day in 2018. Sadly, my 19-year-old kitty Nova passed away in the last few days. Although the cats didn’t live together, when I proposed to Nova that her obituary include an ask to help Sweet Pea’s dental fund, Nova quickly agreed. Nova was too old to go under anesthesia to get her teeth taken care of, but she often commented how important dental health is to a cat.

Mercy has not been able to afford to address Sweet Pea’s teeth, eight need extraction which requires anesthesia and at the same time periodontal care. Mercy hoped to save up funds, but 5 years have passed and here we are. With Nova’s passing, we thought it time to get Sweet Pea’s health addressed as the older cats get, anesthesia is more risky. Sweet Pea is a wonderful big, fluffy, timid cutey; he has many good years ahead of him.

We’re hoping you can help us pay his dental bill.

I'm Sam Rosenthal, an independent musician. My band is Black tape for a blue girl and I run Projekt records. My partner is Mercy West, a non-binary adult performer. Sweet Pea is Mercy's 7-year-old cat. He loves sleeping on his scratching bed, flopping down on Mercy's chest and lately has ventured upstairs to sit on the couch and visit Mercy's roommate's bed. As you can imagine, independent musician and independent adult performer aren’t lucrative fields. Mercy gets by from the support of fans who purchase clips on-line and subscribe to their fan sites. It’s a slow and uncertain way to support oneself — a trickle of cash over time. Paying $1900 is going to be tough — we're grateful for whatever you can contribute to help out.

"Sweet Pea is more than just a pet," Mercy says, "He helps with my anxiety. He's my companion. I work from home, and it can be stressful dealing with rent and living expenses. Having him around makes me smile, helps me relax. He's like my roommate."

Mercy waited seven years to adopt a kitty. Unable to afford treatment for their 17-year-old childhood furball, Elvis, Mercy still had kitty-related PTSD. We both love kitties; their health problems stress us out. The life-altering question 'Can I afford treatment?' is a difficult one to face — knowing a lovely little beast’s life is in our hands, and our financial situation decides their fate too. We’re not alone in this of course; many of you have faced this same dilemma. It's a hard situation to be in, and we appreciate the empathy and support of everyone who gives whatever they can to help us out. If you can’t spare anything (maybe you’re covering medical costs for your own kitten), we get it, we understand, and we're thankful for those who can help. Even just sharing the campaign will help us, you can share this link: https://gofund.me/ab864dd6 -- Take care of yourselves.
