We're a young family on a fixed income due to my husband's severe disability from multiple tours of duty in Iraq. Veteran families lack vision and dental support without extra expenses. In the past year, we faced challenges of raising children, declining disability, and pursuing long-term goals. Our daughter needed treatment for a neurological condition affecting her eyesight, which impacted her ability to dance, which heals a lot of what comes with our family, and her ability to tend to her schooling with effectiveness. We managed her treatment costs until May when reserves began running low and an injury to our dog occurred.
In April 2023, I had reconstructive spinal surgery. During my recovery, we faced the costly treatment for our dog, Koopa's, eye injury, but we saved his eye. However, this drained the remaining of our savings and credit card options, and we had medical bills from my surgery and PT.
At the beginning of August, our refrigerator broke down, costing us nearly $1800, despite having a warranty. We had to replace it, losing all our food which came at an additional cost on top of the replacement.
On August 21st, I had a vital medical appointment to discuss the removal of a large quantity of excess skin after significant weight loss surgery in Dec 2019. Consultations for this have become necessary for health complications and quality of life.
Shortly after this appointment while training in the sport that gives him solace, ninja/obstacle course running, our eldest incurred a dental injury that needs urgent repair and that has added to our medical expenses, leaving us financially strained.
Overall, our family faces urgent medical and financial needs due to a series of unforeseen circumstances, including veterinary care, refrigerator replacement, and medical procedures for both our daughter and me, as well as our son's dental issue. Your support would make a significant difference in our lives. Thank you.

UPDATE 10/1/2023
Hello all,
Can't believe it's been almost a month since I was able to get this written and posted. It has been a good month for the family as we have been navigating the preparation of Cal's competitive season that launched with a 2nd Place finish in his 1st ever Pro-Am competition and the beginning of audition season for Kiki. She was honored to be named the Nutcracker in their studio's production of The Nutcracker Meets the Duke (Duke Ellington's Nutcracker). I am feeling stronger with an uptick in the intensity of my PT during rehab for my spinal surgery. We continue to work toward the goals and needs we have as a family. Thank you for the kindness, support and sharing of our story! Donations thus far have been placed toward the balance for the neurological/optic therapy for Kiki and some set aside to accumulate funds for Cal's tooth. Have a great spooky Month!!!
