I am seeking 25,000.....
My name is Terry. I am a high school teacher in Texas. I have been a teacher for over 16 years. I am trying to buy the home that I have lived in for the last 22 years because the land lord has decided to sell it. I have tried to get a home loan through 4 different lenders. They have all told be the same thing...I have a high debt to income ratio. They say this despite the fact that my rent, utilities, loans, etc.... have always been paid on time. I have turned in every piece of paper work they have asked me to. I have debased myself to find a co signer because they have requested one. When I do, they reject them. The only person in my family that might be eligible won't do it.
I am probably going to have to move out but can't find a rent house or apartment that will take me and my Lab Pit Mix because his breed is not insured. In other words, I am going to have to give up my house and my dog. I'm being punished for going to college, having a career, and paying my bills on time.
The property is over 7000 square feet. The house is over 1600 square feet. It has a new roof, the kitchen and both bathrooms have been remodeled. The stove, oven, and dishwasher are all new... My land lord is offering to sell it to me for 145000 dollars. Its a good deal. I could have bought this home 2 years ago or 2 years from now. Right, nothing is coming together.
Like many in my generation, I have never wanted to buy a house because of interest rates, property taxes, and the cost of things that can go wrong. I made no preparations to buy a home. However, after scouring the local market and what I can afford to pay monthly, what I am in, is the best option for me.
I do spend money and I do have a lot of debt. Other than having a co signer, the only other way to stay in the house is to pay off some debt. Doing so will decrease my debt to income ratio and allow me to get approved for a loan to buy this house. I have a debt consolidation loan for around 25,000.00. That is the purpose of this Go Fund Me. This whole thing has been an embarrassing experience. I'm a very independent person. I'm not married. I don't have any children. I don't ask people for help. But right now I am in dire straights. Any help is appreciated.
I grew up in a house hold with parents that had mental health issues, were physically disabled, and/or elderly depending on who the step parent was at the time. My parents either did not work or did not have good jobs. We moved around a lot and there were times when we did not have gas, water, or electricity. Sometimes we did not have a home or a car. My mom died when I was 17. My dad died when I was 19.
I grew up. I went to college, got a masters degree, and became a teacher. For 15 years, I worked at a group home with young men in CPS and JP care in addition to teaching. I have had my current job for 13 years. I have worked part time at a local College Library for 7 years, and also answer phones at the local newspaper. Since I was 17 years oId, I have had a job everyday of my life. I work for a living. Joe Biden says that you should never bet against America. You should never bet against Terry Denson either.
I loath to ask anyone for help, much less ask for money. Its embarrassing and degrading for me to do this. But, again, any help will be appreciated. Doing so allows me to become a first time home buyer and will let me keep my dog, who by the way is a rescue.
