A note from Rob Snyder: I never ask for anything for myself. I have always preferred to make others happy. Denny and I go way back to when we were very young. Our families were always connected in one way or another through our moms. In fact, our moms are still great friends. Denny and I have been through fights and all the other things that lifelong friends go through. I appreciate his friendship so much that when we were about 11 years old I didn't even punch him for sitting on my head and farting during a sleepover at my house. Yup, that's friendship. And he could run faster than me. I know Denny is suffering because my dad suffered the same way. Every breath is a painful struggle and no one deserves to go through something like that. Denny certainly deserves our help. So if there is any way at all that we can help as individuals or as a group I think we are morally obligated to do so. Think back to when you saw him rockin' around in either his souped up VW Beetle or the red '54 International pickup. We all know him. Let's help him. Help spread the word!
A message from Diane Hosier: Denny and my husband Brad were lifelong friends. I hope for Denny to be able to get this treatment so he can get back to doing the things he loves.
A message from Donna:
My brother Denny is 66 years old, was born, raised and has lived in this area all of his life. He enlisted in the army in July 1970, he served until March 1972.
He worked at the Ancram paper Mill for 9 1/2 years after which he had to pursue different employment due to an accident at his job.
Denny has always had a love for animals and has always had a pet.
He is used to doing things for himself. He heats his home with wood. This past winter bringing in the wood took him three hours, where it used to take twenty minutes.
He has to stop to catch his breath often even when not doing anything strenuous. His quality of life has been decreasing for the past few years and will continue to decline.
He keeps a clean home, but finds it hard to even push the vacuum.
He was an avid hunter, walking in the woods hunting deer and turkey. He now has trouble walking to the mailbox. Denny is now basically housebound.
He was diagnosed with a debilitating, progressive lung disease for which there is no cure,
but treatment options such as stem cell therapy can prevent more damage and improve the patient’s quality of life. As a veteran he uses the VA , but the doctors there have gone as far as they can in his treatment. The VA does not cover this stem cell treatment. Living on a very limited income, Denny needs some help, the sooner the better for him.
He has never asked for help from anyone until now.
Diane Hosier, a lifelong friend of our family has helped me set up this GoFundMe page to hopefully raise the funds needed so Denny can have the stem cell treatment that could have a very promising outcome. We would love for him to have the only chance that could quite possibly give him back a better quality of life that he once had. This procedure could give him the improved health needed to once again be able to do the things he loves and be able to lead a more normal life. Every day Denny fights for each breath and is dependent on medications to achieve this.
We are asking for help to raise the funds to cover the procedure, transportation and lodging. He will need to make this trip twice to Pennsylvania staying for two days each time for this treatment. The second treatment is undergone 90 days after the first one. The funds he needs would cover for both procedures.
Thank you for your consideration and a heartfelt thank you to anyone who can donate.
